Economic cooperation between Iran and Russia in the field of agriculture and food.

General Secretary of Iranian federation of Food Industry in the three-day conference on Iran and Russia trade development in Astrakhan, pointed to the cooperation between the two countries in the field of food and agriculture , the possibility of exports of this sector and strengthen relations in the dairy, confectionery and chocolate hopefully.

IFIF public relations-the Russian trade delegation headed by Deputy Agriculture Minister visited Iran two months ago, during which reviewing the areas of cooperation between the two countries, the participants were invited to the conference of developing trade relations between Iran and Russia.
Additionally, the conference began on April 21st (on Ordibehesht 2nd). At the invitation of the Russian`s Grain Union, Iran`s food industry activists and grain merchants traveled to Russia to attend the conference.
General Secretary of Iranian federation of Food Industry, Kaveh Zargaran, attended the conference on the development of trade relations between Iran and Russia to introduce the potentials of the two sides in the field of food and agriculture, believes that the two countries regarding their advantages and through the economic cooperation, can help to develop and grow their countries.
According to Kaveh Zargaran , the presence of Industrial Bank representatives from Russia, one of the strongest banks in the country, and two Iranian banks , Middle East and Tose`e Taavon in this conference, reflects the seriousness of both sides in removing the banking and monetary barriers through developing trade relation.
The chairman of Agriculture in Tehran Chamber of Commerce with a view to the development of economic relations between the countries noted that one of the most important factors in the growth of international relations is the absence of monetary and banking obstacles to facilitate currency transfers for the merchants and economic activists.
Zargaran expressed capabilities and areas of joint work and also the statistical data of production and the country's needs in the field of grains, details of the cultivation, production fluctuations and imports of agricultural and food products to Iran during the past decade, the country's current policies on production and imports of wheat, corn and barley, the situation of oilseed companies using oilseeds such as sunflower seeds and soybeans and also specific programs in order to strengthen this sector.
It should be noted, Ministry of Agriculture has done concrete measures on new policies regarding the import of oilseeds instead of crude vegetable oil and to expand employment, so it was suggested at the conference that Russia sells vegetable oil seeds instead of selling crude vegetable oil.
At the conference, representatives of large companies in the food and animal feed factories were present in which during the meetings became familiar with the Russian capabilities and visited manufacturing plants and port equipment, including Astarkhan port, Mahach Kala port and other private ports with different wheat storage capacities.
According to General Secretary of Iranian federation of Food Industry, the storage capacity of wheat in Port Mahach Kala is approximately 60 thousand tons that encompasses more capacity, including parts warehouses. The port is also active in the field of timber exports.
He evaluated the importance and critical role of Astrakhan region in trading affairs. The approach of private and governmental sections depend on economic relations, so  Russia is trying to provide facilities needed in Astarkhan, so that the two countries are each other's commodity suppliers.
