August 15, IFIF public relation- Iran`s wheat production reached 13.4 million tones since March, up from last year`s 11.5 million tones.

Top producers are Khuzestan, Golestan, Fars, Kordestan and Kermanshah provinces.

Head of the Government Trading Cooperation of Iran, Ali Qanbari said that Iran have reached self-sufficiency this year and we have surplus of 2 million tones which can be exported.

According to the census of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, for the third consecutive year Iran was the 11th biggest producer of wheat in the world.

Wheat production of Iran will reach 16 million tons by 2019-20.
