January 7, IFIF public relation- According to the official census Iran every year exports 2 billion dollars nuts to different countries including Germany, US, France, Britain, Italy, Spain and Sweden.

The 4th International Exhibition on Nuts, Dried Fruits & Related Industries kicked off on January 6 in Tehran. During the opening ceremony Iran’s Deputy Industry Minister Khosrowtaj said two billion dollars of nuts are exported annually from Iran to different countries; “the Iranian product is sent to 50 world countries like Germany, America, France, England, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Portugal, Persian Gulf countries, including Qatar, United Arabic Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Asian countries of China, South Korea, Japan, Australia and Russia.

Iran annually produces about 200 thousand tons of pistachios, 160 thousand tons of raisins, 150 thousand tons of walnuts, 1.2 million tons of dates, 35 thousand tons of figs, 50 thousand tons of almond, 330 tons of beans, 90 thousand tons of lentils, 300 thousand tons of peas as well as 270 thousand tons of saffron.

The exhibition aims at developing and boosting production of dried fruit, exploring new export markets, bolstering exports, introducing the most modern industries and conversion, processing and packaging industries as well as fostering employment.

The exhibition will end on January 9th.
