Kyrgyz FM: Tehran, Bishkek potentials for further ties high
“Iran was among the first nations that recognized the Republic of Kyrgyzstan,” Abdyldaev said on Wednesday during a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, referring to Kyrgyzstan’s independence from the former Soviet Union 25 years ago.
Zarif’s tour of Turkmenistan, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan is taking place at the invitation of his counterparts in the Central Asian countries and on occasion of the 25th independence anniversary of the three nations.
“During the past 25 years, Bishkek and Tehran have been increasingly developing their mutual relations,” the Kyrgyz foreign minister said.
Abdyldaev named transportation, industry, energy, technology, food industries as potential grounds for furthering cooperation between the two nations.
“The Republic of Kyrgyzstan is ready to conduct joint projects with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.
“The 12th Iran-Kyrgyz joint economic commission is expected to take place next year in Tehran,” he added.
We should prepare the ground for boosting economic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Iran, the Kyrgyz foreign minister said.
He also expressed hope for the Iranian private sector to play a more active role in Kyrgyzstan.
