Abbas Zare’, who is also an advisor to Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati, added that there are many more projects that will cover an additional 152,000 hectares when completed, IRNA reported. According to Zare’, modern irrigation helps save water, brings about sustainable production and reduces the usage of fertilizers, pesticides and energy in farms. Hojjati has been quoted as saying that the government will cover 85% of expenses involved in the modernization of irrigation systems in farms and orchards across the country in the form of subsidies. “Unlimited banking facilities will be granted to farmers in this regard,” he said.
